ALLIE LEEZER

LCSW

Are feelings of depression and anxiety keeping you frozen in place?  Do you feel like you have tried everything and need help finding a way to move forward?  Perhaps you are struggling to find inner peace. Do you need to build coping skills and want to have healthy relationships? Maybe you are struggling or even avoiding finding meaningful relationships.  Perhaps past traumas or life experiences feel too heavy to continue to bear alone. Please know that you aren’t alone in these struggles and there is help available.  We all need support as we move through our lives.

I believe we are masters of our own story but sometimes we need support in getting to the next chapter. Inner strength can be hard to find when we are experiencing difficulties. There are times when we can feel stuck or unsafe, and what we have been doing is no longer working. I provide a safe and comfortable environment to explore these barriers and identify steps to move forward.

My experience is in working with families, trauma, and utilizing experiential therapies to get you to the place you want to be.  I have had the privilege of a diverse background that has leant me a unique perspective on cultural and social differences.  I use a trauma informed approach while allowing you to guide your therapeutic experience

KNOW YOUR THERAPIST

WHAT DID YOU GET YOUR DEGREE(S) IN AND WHERE FROM?

I received Bachelors in Social Work from Utah State University and am currently completing the last few months for my Masters in Social Work from Utah State University.

SUMMARY OF PROFESSIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from Utah State University with my Bachelors in Social Work (BSW)  in 2016.  After graduation I accepted a position at a non-profit agency working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.  This time lent me a particular understanding of PTSD, crisis intervention, anxiety and healthy relationships.  Prior to finishing my BSW I was involved in military family services.

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BECOME A THERAPIST?

A lifetime of personal experience and self development has helped me to understand where my individual talents lay.  These talents and my passion in human behavior and history have guided me to becoming a therapist.  I feel lucky to work in a field where my passions are ignited and where I am able to utilize my talents.

WHATS YOUR THERAPEUTIC APPROACH?

I utilize a person centered, strengths based approach in a safe environment developed for the individual needs of each client.  This happens in a comfortable space to ensure you feel safe being vulnerable while sharing your unique experience.  I believe in the value of each person and respect where you came from and where you would like to be.  We will develop a therapeutic plan based on your wishes while utilizing a variety of therapeutic options.

WHAT KIND OF HOMEWORK OR ASSIGNMENTS DO YOU GIVE CLIENTS?

It is important to use skills learned while in therapy and practice them in real situations.  Any homework or practice is developed between you and your therapist as it will be your situation specific.  Ideas might be using skills in situations that arise, journaling or practicing a skill you are interested in learning.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY FIRST SESSION WITH YOU?

It is a big step to see a new therapist and I know that can be hard. It is hard enough to come prepared to be honest and as open as possible.  I will work hard to help you to feel comfortable and welcome.
