Logan Christensen

MSW intern

I come with a broad background with a lot of variety in my experience. I know you do too. This is something that gives someone strength. I believe that everyone from any background has a resilience and an inner strength that help them survive. Maybe you want to do more than just survive. Maybe you want to thrive. I want to help you with that. I provide warm and caring therapy to help a person find that inner strength that will help them thrive in their life.

I will work with you to overcome trials, difficulties, and through those times where you may feel your values don't quite align with your actions. I provide a non-judgmental environment where you can just be yourself and make changes in your life that will bring you the peace and joy in life that you deserve. I will meet you where you are in life, treat you as the expert in your own experience, and provide unconditional positive regard to help you achieve your therapeutic goals. I look forward to working with you.

TREATMENT APPROACH

I take a person-centered, strengths-based approach while helping people achieve their goals. I work with people to realize that the strengths they need to work through their issues are within themselves and they may just need some practice to develop those strengths. I use a varied approach to modalities and work with people to tailor their therapy to their specific needs but use a lot of principles from MI, ACT, CBT, and coping skills.

Girl in Therapy

"As human beings, our job in life is to help people realize how rare and valuable each one of us really is, that each of us has something that no one else has- or ever will have- something inside that is unique to all time. It's our job to encourage each other to discover that uniqueness and to provide ways of developing its expression."

KNOW YOUR THERAPIST

WHAT DID YOU GET YOUR DEGREE(S) IN AND WHERE FROM?

BS in FCHD from USU. Currently in my last year of MSW from USU.

SUMMARY OF PROFESSIONAL HISTORY

I have worked as a mentor in a boys group home for sex offenders, at DCFS as a reunification case worker, at CAPSA as an intern coordinator and shelter case worker, at Bear River Health Department as an intern in the substance abuse division, and I currently work as a case manager at Bear River Mental Health.

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BECOME A THERAPIST?

Working with people to become the best version of themselves is important to me. I love to watch people change their lives in ways that they can truly feel aligned with their personal goals and values and reach a place a true inner-peace.

WHATS YOUR THERAPEUTIC APPROACH?

In my career I have worked with a wide variety of people. In all of this experience I have gained I have seen that people from anywhere and any background can experience difficulties and stressors in life that can lead them to behave in ways that cause inner turmoil. I have also seen that every person has within themselves a strength to overcome that they may not even realize is there. I truly believe that with hope and effort anyone can be the person they wish to become.

WHAT KIND OF HOMEWORK OR ASSIGNMENTS DO YOU GIVE CLIENTS?

I work with my clients to tailor their "homework" between sessions to be something that is achievable and valuable to the client.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY FIRST SESSION WITH YOU?

I will always be honest with you. I ask that you are always open and honest with me. Think about what brings you in and what you want to improve in your life.
