Maddie Landrum
MSW Intern
In my work as a therapist I approach sessions as your advocate. My style is holistic, eclectic, and heavily inspired by person-centered and strengths-based theories which offer an unconditionally supportive therapeutic experience. Life can be confusing, stressful, and overwhelming. I want to work with you to find techniques and tools that guide you towards healing, understanding, and peace. Throughout our time together I will ensure an accepting, action-oriented space for you to express what you are currently facing in life. In our sessions I trust you as the expert in your life experience; and no matter what you have endured through I want to be there to listen to your story without judgment. I graduated with my BS in Psychology in 2021 and my MSW in 2024-- both from USU. My experiences and interests mainly lie in OCD, identity/sexual orientation, eating disorders, body image, trauma, anxiety and depression.

KNOW YOUR THERAPIST
WHAT DID YOU GET YOUR DEGREE(S) IN AND WHERE FROM?
BS in Psychology USU; MSW USU
SUMMARY OF PROFESSIONAL HISTORY
I previously worked at Avalon Hills as a Nuerofeedback Technician, spent a year of my practicum at Logan High as a school social worker, and have had experience volunteering at local refugee centers in my hometown. I received my BS in Psychology in 2021 and my MSW in 2024-- both from USU.
WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BECOME A THERAPIST?
Life experience brought me to a place of understanding that I wanted to be the person I wish I had when I was younger. Through my journey of studying psychology and then transitioning to social work, I have found that I want to be a therapist that works towards individual and system level justice to create a better human experience.
WHATS YOUR THERAPEUTIC APPROACH?
My therapuetic approach is ecclectic, meaning I utilize various evidence-based practices in treatment depending on each individual client's needs. I find myself gravitating towards Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (parts work) for most of my clients.
My approach is warm, encouragning and understanding. However, I also challenge my clients, when appropriate, to help them reach their treatment goals.
WHAT KIND OF HOMEWORK OR ASSIGNMENTS DO YOU GIVE CLIENTS?
I will work with you to determine what is the best fit for your needs when assigning homework. All assignments are tailored with your treatment goals in mind.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY FIRST SESSION WITH YOU?
Prepare to come as you are. We will start by simply getting to know each other and what your goals are.
